To the EDN:
Sunday. Oct. 17, 2010 was the Scouting for Food Drive that serves Emmet County Food Pantry. This year has been our biggest drive in a few years. Young people from Boy Scout Troop 31, Cub Scout Pack 21, Emmet County 4-H, and our newest group, the Girl Scouts joined us in our collection process. The gathering of non perishable items netted nearly 4,000 pounds. The food pantry has been getting bags daily this week marked SCOUTNG FOR FOOD which probably brings our total higher.
My thanks goes to the youth and their respective leaders that participated, the parents and guardians of these youth who support this project by driving them around to pick up the bags off your doorstep.
To the Estherville Daily News, KILR Radio for advertising, to our local Fareway, and HyVee grocers for their part by donating all the bags used in this project, thank you!
The Food Pantry once again has their shelves filled. In these uncertain economic times the residents of Estherville came through to help people in need. And to you, we send out a very special THANK YOU!
