I wonder if the citizens of Estherville realize that Estherville has a recreational opportunity to offer that not many other communities have. We have an indoor roller skating rink. There are not many roller rinks still operating in our area, but we have a great facility here. My husband and I both roller-skated a lot growing up and we started going again when our granddaughter wanted to go. She loves to skate, and we take her every opportunity we have, but we have also started going even when she's not with us. It is great exercise and not very expensive. The proprietors of the rink also promote a kid-friendly atmosphere. They have a reading program that offers free passes for a certain amount of pages read and they have a program that offers free passes for bringing in items to donate to the local food pantry. There are signs posted all over the rink that read Respect Yourself and they promote that as well as respect for others.
I just wanted to tell everyone what a great recreational opportunity exists here. If you have children - or not - come out and roller skate. It is great fun and exercise!
