Working together to keep VFW open

January 22, 2011
Estherville News

It has been a difficult couple of years at the Veterans of Foreign Wars post home in Estherville. We have had to make some very expensive decisions in regards to our building and keeping it open. With much thought, we the board and manager decided that we wanted to do our very best to keep this vital organization active in our community. With making that decision, we ventured forward with the necessary repairs to our old building. During this time, the great community of Estherville struggled along with us to get this huge task accomplished. There were many days that the odor in our building was anything but pleasant. The repair noise and dust weren't very nice either.

We still need to repair the parking lot, hopefully the project can be completed early this spring.

Thank you to the community of Estherville, the VFW members and the businesses in Estherville that have helped accomplish our goal. With your patience and contributions, the VFW is once again one of the best post homes in Iowa.

Judy Johnson, Auxiliary President

Stacie Stoliker, Canteen Manager
