To the EDN,
Thank you Estherville on behalf of the ELC girls' basketball program
I'm sitting at my desk making a to-do list for next week's trip to the Iowa girls' basketball state tournament. One thing I know that can wait no longer is a quick thank-you to all community members who have supported our team both emotionally and financially. No matter what happens in terms of the game, I know our student athletes will do their very best to represent our community as a whole.
It is times like these that make me appreciate how fortunate I have been to grow up in such a giving community and have the opportunity to raise my children here as well. I will make no attempt to single everyone out as the list would be longer than allowed in any editorial. But I do want to specifically thank our local business community that has been so giving both in terms of the support of this trip and our school district as a whole. In these economic times it is unbelievable to me how fortunate we are to have community-minded businesses that truly care about our kids and our schools.
I also want to thank all the students in our high school who spend countless hours to represent our community through the activities they choose to participate in. Not all participants are fortunate enough to receive the recognition of participating in a state tournament, but that does not diminish their efforts to represent both the school district and community alike.
Again, on behalf of all associated with our basketball program thank you Estherville for all your support and encouragement.
