MASON CITY - North Iowa Area Community College halted a four-game winning streak by Iowa Lakes as the Trojans eked out an 82-80 win on Saturday.

The hosts had taken a 37-28 lead at half-time and survived the Lakers' 52-point second half.

Turnovers appeared to be the Lakers' downfall as they had 24 to just 15 by NIACC.

Iowa Lakes out-rebounded NIACC 45-39.

Wendell Pelts led the Lakers with 24 points while Eric Allison finished with 16, Mark Rangeley had 13, Terrell Newton had 11, Reggie Hearn had 10, Josh Schaben had four and AJ Irby had two.

Neither team shot well from the free-throw line where the Lakers were 8-of-19 and the Trojans were 14-of-30. However NIACC made 45.5 percent (10-of-22) from 3-point range where the Lakers were 8-of-23 for 34.8 percent.

Iowa Lakes (11-11 overall, 3-5 in Region XI) hosts Des Moines Area Community College at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
