My husband, John, and I own the OUTLET Store in downtown Estherville. In June, I was approached by Steve McCauley, a teacher in our ELC school district, about the high school purchasing supplies to decorate floats for the homecoming parade in September. My first response was, "Wow! He is really thinking ahead!" My second response was, "This is great! The school is supporting my local business!"
After researching several companies to see what I could get for float making materials, I contacted Steve and gave him the website for a company that I order from frequently. He told me what his budget was and that each class freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior all had their own budgets. Several weeks later, he came in with a list from each class and the items that they wanted to order for their class float. They had gone through the website, chosen the items, and had written down order numbers and prices. Steve had the process very well organized. I placed the order and it arrived 5 days later order complete and in plenty of time to decorate the floats! As Steve and I worked together, I made sure that I gave him the lowest prices possible and was able to receive free shipping, so there were no shipping charges for either of us. The order came to a few cents under budget.
John and I would like to thank Steve and the high school classes for giving us the opportunity to service your needs. Money spent locally in the community helps to keep our businesses open. THANK YOU!
