Avera Holy Family Health of Estherville has remodeled its patient registration area for better patient privacy and convenience.
Administrator and CEO Mike Hall said that according to customer satisfaction surveys, registration privacy was an issue. Previously, patients registered immediately upon entering the north door.
"There number-one area was privacy of admission," Hall said of patients answering the survey.
The new area also helps the hospital better ensure adherence to HIPPA privacy rules.
"I think we've solved that issue and it's a very nice-looking area," Hall said, noting that patient registration staff also handle the emergency area.
The previous admission area is now an information desk where patients are directed to a more private registration area. The new registration area includes portions of the building where a switchboard and office area were located.
Patients will also see a more welcoming carpet-tiled entry.
