Indians shut out SCC

LAKE CITY - Class 2A fifth-ranked Spirit Lake didn't have much trouble with South Central Calhoun in a 49-0 drubbing on Friday.

Nine Indians carried the ball for 296 yards on the ground and the Indians also had 103 yards passing for 399 yards on the night. The Indians' defense caused two turnovers also with Brandon Stoll snagging an interception and Zach Arneson falling on a fumble.

Cody Poock led the ground attack with 101 yards on four carries with two touchdowns including a 46 yard run. Paul Brown had 54 yards on seven carries while Jake Hofstra had 45 yards on two carries with a 44-yard touchdown run. Bryson McCabe had a 3-yard touchdown run.

Receiving, Casey Spaeth caught three passes for 54 yards and two touchdowns-the longest a 32-yard reception. Andrew Ites caught two passes for 21 yards.

Brett Cochran-Bray kicked six of the extra points with Josh McGueen kicking one also.

Poock and Brady Mart led the defense with eight tackles each. Poock had two of the team's four sacks with Spaeth and Hofstra each having one.

Spirit Lake (7-1 overall) ends the regular season at home against Estherville Lincoln Central.
