GT/RA wins slugfest with CWL

RUTHVEN - Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire put up big numbers in its final game of the season, a 72-42 victory over Corwith-Wesley-Luverne.

The Titans finished with 503 yards of offense in the contest.

Carter Williamson did the bulk of the damage with 214 yards on 27 carries with three touchdowns.

Kyle Dalen finished with 64 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries. He also caught a 13-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Blaze Alesch.

Alesch finished with 106 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries. He also went 3-for-3 passing for 71 yards.

Williamson opened the scoring with a 1-yard run with 7:28 in the first quarter with Alesch running in the two-point conversion.

The Panthers answered quickly but failed on the two-point conversion. Dalen scored his first touchdown of the night on a 3-yard run at the 5:56 mark in the first quarter with Marcus Girres running in the two-point conversion.

Dalen scored with 9:18 on another 3-yard run in the second quarter. Williamson added the two-point conversion as the Titans led 24-6.

CWL scored next and added two points to cut the deficit to 10, 24-14. That was as close as they would get.

Dalen then snagged the 13-yard touchdown pass from Alesch with Williamson running in the two-point conversion.

After a Panther fumble, Alesch scored on a 6-yard run with Trevor Hagedorn catching a two-point conversion pass from the Titans' quarterback. Back on defense, Alesch intercepted a Corwith-Wesley-Luverne pass and moments later scored on a 25-yard run.

Another Panther Fumble led to a Williamson 3-yard touchdown run with Alesch adding the two-point conversion and the Titans led 54-14 at halftime.

CWL won the third quarter 16-6 with Williamson scoring the Titans' touchdown on a10-yard run with 3:32 remaining.

Williamson then scored on a 9-yard run with 9:48 in the fourth quarter.

CWL added one more score with 3:19 in the game.

GT/RA reserves got in the act as Lane Reiman connected with Marcus Girres on a 34-yard pass, Reiman's only pass of the game, with 52 seconds remaining. Michael Girres ran in the two-point conversion.

Other offensive stats for the Titans, Hagedorn caught one pass for 39 yards and Garrett Parker caught a pass for 7 yards. Also, Michael Girres had four carries for 7 yards and Mason McGrauth had three carries for 7 yards.

Defensively, Zach Chicoine had eight tackles and a fumble recovery. Mason McGrauth had nine tackles, Alesch had seven, Matt McGrauth had six and Williamson had five.

GT/RA ends the season with a 3-6 record overall.

Playing in their final high school game were seniors Blaze Alesch, Carter Williamson, Zach Chicoine, Kevin Smith, Austin Rehm, Kyler Dose, Tanner Naig and Trevor Hagedorn.
