Estherville Rotary members met at one of their favorite venues of the year when they got a special sneak preview of the Iowa Lakes Community College mens and womens basketball and wrestling teams Thursday.

Introducing the teams were head mens basketball coach and athletic director Troy Larson, womens coach Nicole Bullock and head wrestling coach Cody Alesch. Assistant coaches for men's basketball are Jason McKinney, Mike Annese, Ron Larson and Corey Christopher while Sherena Abercrumbia is assistant womens coach. Dave Brown is assistant wrestling coach.

Bullock noted 11 freshmen on the team.

"They're young. They're really enthusiastic. They're energetic," Bullock said.

Larson said there were 15-16 women on the team with about the same number for the men.

Coach Alesch, a Graettinger native, said having two-time national champion Victor De Jesus who went on to wrestle for Arizona State opened up a connection with wrestlers from Smitty's Barn in Danville, NH, which trains wrestlers from throughout New England.

The Laker men and women hit the court in a home opener against the Dordt junior varsity Nov. 1.

Wrestling also opens at home when the Lakers host an intersquad dual meet Nov. 6.
