The Estherville Lincoln Central High School Chapter of the National Honor Society inducted nine seniors and five juniors into its ranks Wednesday. They join an august group of just 1,248 members who have joined the local chapter since it was founded.

According to Casey Sievert, senior and 2011 inductee, the National Honor Society was founded in 1920. Being named to the select group is "one of the highest honors that this school can offer," she said.

The National Honor Society has 20,000 chapters in the U.S. and foreign countries. The NHS looks for the highest qualities of character, scholarship, leadership and service in its members.
