ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for Marcella June Simacek, 79, of Estherville, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday,?Nov. 27 at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Donna Gray officiating.?Interment will be at East Side Memorial Cemetery, Estherville. She died on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012 at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Monday at the Henry-Olson-Funeral Chapel in Estherville.

Marcella June (Updike) Simacek the daughter of Martin and Florence (Woodruff) Updike was born Feb. 2, 1933 in Manyaska Township, Minn.

She received her education and graduated from Fairmont High School.

In 1952 she was united in marriage to Robert E. Simacek in Sherburn, Minn. Following their marriage, the couple farmed northwest of Sherburn. In 1959 they moved east of Huntington and continued farming. In 1999, the couple retired from farming and moved north of Estherville. June loved to help with the farming, especially driving the tractor in the field. For hobbies, she enjoyed bowling, cooking, fishing, gardening, sewing, quilting, dancing, genealogy and spending time on her computer.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Huntington where she was a Sunday school teacher and MYF leader. She was also a member of the Bowling League, Card Club and Neighborhood Coffee Club.

Left to cherish June's memory are her husband, Robert; children, David and his wife, Sarah; Susan Zach and her husband, Dean; Robert and his wife, Kathy; Gary and Arlene; 11 grandchildren, Michael; Cory; Craig; Chad Johnson and his wife, Sara; Chet Johnson and his wife, Angie; Carrie Taylor and her husband, Abe; Craig Johnson; Brandie Simacek; Amanda Simacek; Emily Simacek; Stephanie Simacek; 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Elizabeth Zuhl.

She has been preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Bill (Mae), Martin and Harry (JoAnn) and sisters, Rhodee and Ardinea; sisters and brothers-in-law, LeAnna Helmers; Carol (Maynard) Gohr; Elmer Juhl; Lucille Simacek and other relatives.
