ARMSTRONG - Funeral services for Lorraine Nicosen, 81, of Armstrong will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong with Pastor Vance Toivonen officiating. Interment will be at Armstrong Grove Cemetery in Armstrong.

She was born Nov. 26, 1931 on the Emmet/Kossuth county line on an acreage to George and Lillie (Peitersen) Hoien. They lived in Minnesota and South Dakota before settling in Ringsted.

Lorraine graduated from Armstrong High School in 1950. She married Robert Nicoson on Nov. 11, 1951. Bob and Lorraine made their home in Armstrong. She worked at numerous places before working at the United States Post Office for 30 years, retiring in 1993. Lorraine enjoyed volunteering at the nursing home and delivering meals on wheels. She also enjoyed camping and playing cards with family members even if she had to cheat to win! She was also known for having the biggest sweet tooth and having an even bigger Dane temper! She loved her Minnesota Vikings but only when John Madden wasn't announcing the game! Bob and Lorraine were married for 49 years prior to his passing in May of 2000. After Bob passed, Lorraine adopted her Daschund Fritz. Her great-grandkids called her "Grandma Fritzy"! Lorraine was very proud of her Danish heritage and we always had to have Venebra at Christmas time. She made a mean French toast, which her children and grandchildren begged her to make!
