RUTHVEN, EVERLY - The Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire boys split a pair of games last week, losing 64-62 to Laurens-Marathon on Thursday and bouncing back with a decisive 62-23 win over Clay Central-Everly on Friday.

Against the Chargers, the Titans led 13-12 after one quarter, but trailed 29-26 at halftime and 51-43 after three quarters before attempting to rally in the fourth.

"The boys played pretty well the first half," said GTRA coach Randy Hough. "I was very happy the way we came back by getting down by 19 points the second half. I thought the boys played with a lot of intensity and enthusiasm from about the middle of the third quarter throughout the rest of the game. We had some great play from off of our bench."

Austin Dyer led the Titans with 24 points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals.

Connor Sturgill contributed 18 points and 14 rebounds. Trevor Hagedorn, Marcus Girres and Mason McGrauth each had six points. Hagedorn had eight rebounds and McGrauth had seven assists. Lane Reiman had two points and Michael Girres had four assists.

Against CCE on Friday, the Titans jumped out to a 20-4 lead in the first quarter and never looked back with a 41-13 lead at the break and 50-18 after three quarters.

"This was a game that we played a bunch of different combinations on the floor," said coach Hough. "I thought all the boys did a great job. We are playing at a lot faster pace with much more intensity and enthusiasm than we had before Christmas."

Sturgill finished with another double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds. Dyer finished with 19 points, five assists and five steals.

Marcus Girres had eight points while McGrauth had six, Reiman and Noah Stukey each had three and Hagedorn had one. McGrauth finished with five assists and two steals. Marcus Girres had five steals and three assists. Reiman also had three steals.

GTRA (3-7 overall) is on the road against West Bend-Mallard this evening.
