SLP defeats West Lyon, L-M, but falls to Dutch

SPIRIT LAKE - The Spirit Lake Park wrestling team finished 2-1 in a home quadrangular dual meet on Friday.

The Indians lost 40-39 to MOC-Floyd Valley, but won 46-30 over West Lyon and 52-21 over Laurens-Marathon.

In spite of having six pins against the Dutch, the Indians also gave up four pins and two forfeits and a major decision.

Doug Miner (120), Ben Parks (126), Kenten Murray (145), David Trucksess (152), Jacob Jenness (182) and Brady Mart (195) all won by fall, Zach Skopec (138) won 11-8 in his match.

Gage Roberts (106), Ethan Bergendahl (132), Justin Jones (160) and Cody Wernimont (220) all lost by fall while Javier Tapia (170) lost a 12-4 major decision. The Indians forfeited at 113 and 285.

The Indians had seven pins against West Lyon-Roberts (106), Miner (120), Skopec (138), Murray (145), Trucksess (152), Jones (160), and Jenness (182) all won by fall. Tapia won a 14-5 major decision.

Parks (126), Bergendahl (132), Mart (195) and Wernimont (220) all lost by fall.

Spirit Lake Park had six pints against Laurens-Marathon.

Roberts (113), Miner (120), Bergendahl (132), Murray (145), Trucksess (152) and Jones (160) won by fall. Skopec won a 17-4 major decision.

Parks (126) and Mart (195) both lost by fall while Tapia (170) lost an 11-6 major decision. Jenness (182) and Wernimont (220) both received forfeits, while the Indians forfeited at 285 and there was not match at 106 pounds.

Spirit Lake Park travels to the Estherville Lincoln Central Dual Tournament on Saturday.
