North Union falters late against GHEC

EAST CHAIN - The North Union boys had chances to pick up another victory on Tuesday, but couldn't make the plays down the stretch in a 54-48 loss to Grenada-Huntley-East Chain.

The two teams were tied at 25-25 after one half of play.

"They (East Chain) scored and the end and we turnover the ball over and missed some free throws as the game got away from us," said North Union coach Kurt Fothergill.

Shane Mills led North Union with 16 points, five rebounds, three steals and a blocked shot. Colton McConnell contributed14 points, four rebounds, two assists, two steals and a blocked shot. Alex Krants had eight points while Aric Runge had four points, for rebounds and two assists. Jacob Braddock had two points and two steals.

North Union was 9-of-18 from the free throw line while GHEC was 11-of-26 from the line.

North Union (2-13 overall) travels to Graettinger on Friday to face Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire.
