MARCUS - Without their leading scorer and rebounder, the Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire Titans struggled against Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn on Saturday.
The host Eagles led 11-8 after one quarter, 29-16 at halftime and 49-25 after three quarters on the way to a 65-44 victory.
"We played a little short handed without Connor Sturgill (15.7 points and 9.0 rebounds per game)," said GTRA coach Randy Hough. " Marcus was a much more physical team and wore us down in the second half."
Austin Dyer, the Titans second leading scorer with 14.5 points per contest, led the team with 19 points, including 5-of-9 from three-point range, and he also had four assists and two steals.
Trevor Hagedorn finished with nine points and six rebounds. Mason McGrauth had six points, Marcus Girres and Michael Girres each had four points and Lane Reiman had two points. Reiman also had four assists and Marcus Girres had two steals and two blocked shots.
GTRA (6-9 overall, 6-2 in the Cornbelt Conference) is on the road against Corwith-Wesley-Luverne this evening.
