ARMSTRONG - After a slow start, the North Union girls picked up the pace to defeat Clay Central-Everly 39-26 on Tuesday.
"They came out in a zone and that threw us off a bit," said North Union coach Merle Tigges. "We then started to knock down some shots.
"We did play lockdown defense and kept them from doing what they wanted to do also," he said.
North Union trailed 7-5 after one quarter, but led 18-13 at halftime and 32-17 after three quarters.
Sara Rolling and Cheyanne Boland each scored 10 points while Aurora Oliver had seven, Maddy Irmiter had five, Jasmine Clausen had three and Peyton Oleson and Dena Looft each had two.
Looft had nine rebounds and four steals, Oliver had seven rebounds and Rolling had three steals.
North Union (11-5 overall) is on the road against Harris-Lake Park on Friday.
