The Iowa Lakes women played Iowa Central better than even in the second half.

It was the nine-point first-half that was the Lakers' downfall.

The hosts just 3-of-23 shots from the field in the first half and 3-of-5 from the free-throw line while going 0-7 from 3-point range.

Iowa Central didn't have the same problems in cruising to a 36-9 halftime lead and winning 66-42.

Meanwhile, the Lakes did much better offensively in the second half, scoring 10 points in the first 6 minutes.

Myangel Johnson and Carla Barrera all helped jumpstart the Laker offense.

Johnson finished with a game-high 21 points, finishing 7-of-11 from the field and 7-of-10 from the free throw line.

Barrera finished with seven points while Ashleigh Dykes and Leah Courtney each had four, Sunday Duop and Shabreka Edwards each had two and Daria Jones and Noelle Kindred each had one.

Katie Dentlinger led the Tritons with 18 points while Lydia Harvey scored 10.

The Lakers finished the game 12-of-45 from the field (26.7 percent) while making 17-of-24 free throws.

Iowa Central shot 51 percent (25-of-49) from the field and 8-of-11 from the free-throw line.

Iowa Lakes (7-15 overall, 3-6 in the conference) is on the road against the Briar Cliff Junior Varsity next Monday.
