The 2013 FSA COC election was conducted for the purpose of electing an area landowner or farm operator to the County FSA Committee for a three-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2013 and expiring Dec. 31, 2016.
With outgoing FSA committeeperson Jay Lausen, local farmer from Emmet Township, having reached his maximum nine-consecutive-year term limit of serving on the Emmet County FSA committee, Craig Borchers, farmer from Twelve Mile Lake township near Wallingford was elected to serve as a member on the committee.

The Emmet FSA County Committee and staff also wishes to express their appreciation to all the Local Administrative Area #1 landowners & farm operators voters who participated in the 2013 election by voting and returning their COC election ballots.
FSA committees are a critical component of the day-to-day operations of the Farm Service Agency. They help to administer USDA farm programs at the local level. Farmers who serve on committees provide input concerning the kinds of programs their counties will have available and how they will operate. They endeavor to make FSA agricultural programs fit the needs of local producers.
