Lakers need OT to beat Panthers

IOWA FALLS - In a tough game from start to finish, Iowa Lakes finally prevailed over Ellsworth, 92-90, in overtime on Saturday. The Lakers had to survive a last-second 3-point attempt by the Panthers.

"That was a great college basketball game and a good effort by our team," said Iowa Lakes head coach Troy Larson.

Iowa Lakes led 40-38 at halftime and the score was tied at 82-82 at the end of regulation.

Ben Shellim led the Lakers with 28 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the field including 4-of-5 from 3-point range. He also was 6-of-6 from the free throw line. Deondre Parks finished with 24 points while Kelly Madison tossed in 20 and Josh Schaben had 10. Kevin Larson contributed six points while Tate Harmon and Mark Miedema each had two.

team, Iowa Lakes was 9-of-18 from 3-point range and 23-of-37 (62.2 percent) from the free throw line while shooting 30-of-62 (48.4 percent from the field. Parks had a team-high nine rebounds while Madison and Schaben each had eight. Shellim had four assists also.

Malcolm Canada led Ellsworth with 31 points.

Iowa Lakes (18-5 overall, 9-2 in the conference) hosts North Iowa Area Community College at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
