Caroline Rembold, a local 11-year-old Estherville Lincoln Central Middle School student, has been chosen the winner of Excel! Estherville's "Why I love Estherville" contest.
The Excel! Estherville brand committee ran a contest on KILR throughout the month of February that asked Estherville community to say why they loved living in Estherville.
The committee sifted through the more than 100 entries, and Rembold's really stood out.
"We had many wonderful submissions from people of all ages, but Caroline Rembold's stood out as really succinctly summarizing many of Estherville's best assets," said Stephanie Neppl, Estherville Area Chamber of Commerce executive director and brand committee chairperson.
"A few points were very clear as we worked our way through the submissions," she continued. "Themes we saw again and again were that people think Estherville is friendly, safe and full of activities. People love the wellness center, swimming pool and skating rink. They love our parks, Fort Defiance, library and schools and think we offer great events, parades and fun for families."
For her efforts, Rembold won $100 in Estherville Bucks, which can be spent at a number of Chamber member businesses in Estherville. Caroline is the daughter of Matt and Tricia Rembold of Estherville.
The brand committee also includes Penny Clayton, Estherville city administrator; Jen Hough from Avera Holy Family Hospital and Elaine Quastad from Q Custom Designs.
