The Black Knights Car Club announced its summer schedule to members at the club's monthly meeting Tuesday night at the VFW Post 3388 trophy room.
Kicking off this year's events will be the first cruise-in 6:30-10 p.m. Friday, May 3. Cruise-ins will follow at the same time the first Friday of every month through August when the cruise will be held in conjunction with Sweet Corn Days. A short cruise will be held each night around 7:30 p.m. along with oldies music and family fun.
The eighth-annual Sweet Corn Days Car Show will be held noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3 along North Sixth Street in Estherville. Registration will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the corner of First Avenue and North Sixth Street. Registration is only $10 and dash plaques go to the first 100 entries and there are loads of door prizes for registrants.
Trophies will be awarded at 3 p.m. to the top 25 entries decided by participant vote. Special awards include: Mayor's Choice, Best Mopar, Best Ford, Best GM, Best Truck and Best Paint.
The Black Knights Car Club Airport Drags will be held again this year Sunday, Sept. 22 at the Spencer Airport at 1957 330th St. west of the Clay County Fairgrounds.
The gates open at 9 a.m. with racing from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Racing will be on a 350-foot track, side-by-side with a light start. Drags will be $5 a pass or $20 for all days. Spectator admission is $5 a person.
All cars participating will be inspected. Safety inspectors have the final say. Vehicles must be registered, licensed and have proof of insurance. Tires must be D.O.T. approved and there is no motorcycle class.

Anyone interested in antique or classic automobiles is encouraged to attend meetings to learn more about the club. Meetings are at 7 p.m. the first Tuesday of every month at the VFW Post 3388 trophy room. You do not need to own a classic or antique car to join.
