Midgets open season at home

Estherville Lincoln Central came up a few strokes short in its season opening meet on Monday.

While LeMars and Storm Lake both shot a 176 on the Midgets' home course, ELC finished with an 83.

Storm Lake won the tiebreaker with the team's fifth score-a 48 to Storm Lake's 50.

LeMars' Tyler Carlson earned meet medalist honors with a 41. Storm Lake's Blake Berry also shot a 41 for runner-up medalist honors.

Jack Brashear led ELC with a 43 while Corey Reeves shot a 44, Chris Seylar had a 45 and Levi Quastad shot a 51.

Non-counting scores were a 54 from Clay Tredway and a 55 by Hunter Gifford.

LeMars won the junior varsity contest with a 188 while ELC shot a 205 and Storm Lake shot a 242.

Tucker Milburn led the ELC JV with a 43 while Alex Molacek shot a 52, and Hunter King and Reese Vedder each shot 55s.

Non-counting scores were a 56 from Jake Bortvit and a 67 from Chase Erickson.

ELC is scheduled to play at Algona today.
