Event benefits Relay for Life

The Estherville WA TAN YE Club will hold its annual gospel concert, which is the group's fundraiser to benefit Emmet County Relay for Life.

This year the WA TAN YE Club will team up with the Estherville United Methodist Praise Team to bring an afternoon of gospel music and sing-along.

The event will begin at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 21 at the United Methodist Church at 102 S. Eighth St. in Estherville with a concert featuring the United Methodist Praise Team and their guests, the H.U.G. Puppets.

The Praise Team will perform many selections written by the duo of Bill and Gloria Gaither. As of 2012, the Gaithers have composed 700 songs. Some the most famous song which will be performed are "He Touched Me," I've Just Seen Jesus," and "Because He Lives".

Solos and ensembles will be featured by members within the group including Steve Bradburn, Steven T. Lange, Dree Garrison, Micki Bradburn and Karen butler. Dr. Keith Probst will also be a featured soloist with a number from the Billy Graham Crusade days.

The Estherville United Methodist Praise Team was organized in 2006 and their music ministry is shared with nursing homes, local veteran programs and the church. They primarily sing gospel and contemporary Christian music. They will be accompanied by a guest pianist for this event who many have known as remember as Kay Klinger (now Koehler). Karen Butler is the other half of the "Klinger Twins" and is one of the featured soloists in the Praise Team.

The Estherville WA TAN YE organization has been in existence in Estherville since 1936.

They are a service organization that raises money to give back to the community including college scholars to high school students and to nontraditional students, giving their time and treats to nursing home residents, purchasing and delivering Thanksgiving meals to the needing and giving monies to the community libraries, Respite Angels, American Heart Association and other community organization.

A freewill offering will be taken with all donations given to Emmet county Relay for Life.

Following the music concert, refreshments will be served by WA TAN YE members in the fellowship hall.
