Estherville Daily News

Two men received minor injuries as the result of a one-vehicle accident on Monday.

Emmet County Sheriff Mike Martens reports the sheriff's office received a report of a traffic accident North of Estherville on Highway 4 at 5:33 p.m.

Upon investigation, officials determined a 1988 Ford Lifeline ambulance owned by the Palo Alto County Hospital was northbound approximately 5 miles north of Estherville when the driver lost control and the ambulance entered the south ditch across from 118 Highway 4 and overturned onto the driver's side.

Ambulance driver Cody Petersen, 27, of Graettinger, and the attending paramedic Joseph Lybarger, 29, of Estherville received minor injuries. A passenger in the rear of the ambulance, Lois Wegener, 67, of Emmetsburg, was not injured.

All three were transported to Avera Holy Family Hospital by the Estherville Ambulance Service. The ambulance received approximate $10,000 in damage.

The Estherville Fire Department assisted on the scene.
