EMMETSBURG - Playing against the two of the top teams in the Lakes Conference, the Estherville Lincoln Central girls' golf team finished behind Emmetsburg and Western Christian on Tuesday.
Led by medalist Taylor Knight's 48, Emmetsburg won with a 198. Runner-up medalist Summer Jansen led Western Christian with a 49 as the Wolfpack finished second. ELC shot a 237.
Tia Bernholtz, Britany Busch and Shelby Lappegard all shot 58s while Lauren Moeller carded a 63. Non-counting score was a 68 by Caitlyn Tvedt.
"For our girls they just needed to go out and work on their game and not worry about the other girls," said ELC coach Kevin Richardson. "That is easier said than done though.
"Tia is golfing in the number one spot now and that does put pressure on her," he continued. "It will be good in the long run for her to play there. The Emmetsburg course is not long but it is narrow and some girls found trouble with the trees. Shelby played better tonight."
ELC's two junior varsity golfers also played. Sarah Schacherer shot a 70 and Katelyn Kilpatrick had a 76.
ELC travels to Storm Lake on Friday to play the Tornadoes and LeMars.
