Lakers split with Trojans again

Region tourney starts today

For the second day in a row, the Iowa Lakes baseball team split with North Iowa Area Community College

At Hess-Limberg Field in Estherville on Tuesday, the Trojans took the first game 7-2, but the Lakers shut-out the visitors in the second, 4-0.

Austin Smith took the loss in game one, giving up five runs on seven hits with three strikeouts.

Steve Kandborg went 2-2 with a run while Leonardo Ramirez and Miguel Rosario each went 2-4 at the plate.

Jordan Petschke pitched a one-hit shut out in the second game, giving up just one hit while striking out four batters.

At the plate, Edison Perez and Kandborg each went 1-2 with an RBI, Ramirez was 2-3 while Ryan O'Melia was 1-2.

Iowa Lakes (17-23 overall, 7-17 in the conference) travels to Waterloo for the Region XI Tournament. Iowa Lakes will play Southeastern Community College at 7 p.m. at Riverfront Stadium.
