EMMETSBURG - The Estherville Lincoln Central boys track team have one assured ticket for the Class 2A State Meet.
The medley relay team of Andres Blanco, Adam Reiter, Matt Burrell and Joe Heinrichs earned an automatic berth with a second-place finish in the event in 3 minutes, 46.5 seconds.
"It was a good effort by all four guys," said ELC coach Dick Barrett.
ELC will have to wait to see if any more events qualified for state.
The top two places in each event automatically qualify for state. The next eight best times or distances make up the rest of the qualifiers.
ELC had two third-place finishes.
Justin Heinrichs ran a career-best time of 57.07 seconds in the 400-meter low hurdles to place third.
The 4x800-meter relay team of Tyler Swanson, Blake Gjerde, Rod Fuller and Joe Heinrichs finished third in 8:30.32
Also on the outside looking in is the fourth-place shuttle hurdle team. The foursome of Zach Wycoff, Michael McCauley, Matt Burrell and Justin Heinrichs had set the school record earlier this year. The quartet finished in 1:02.09 to reset the record.
The only other result to report is a fourth-place finish by Zain Dostal in the 400-meter dash as he finished in 54.09 seconds.
