ELC qualifies three more events for state

With the completion of Class 1A and 2A state qualifying track meets on Friday, the complete list of state qualifiers for girls and boys are listed online.

The Estherville Lincoln Central boys track team learned that three more of the squad's performances at Thursday's 2A District meet in Emmetsburg are good enough to earn a berth at state.

As reported earlier, the distance medley team of Andres Blanco, Adam Reiter, Matt Burrell and Joe Heinrichs earned an automatic berth with a second-place finish.

ELC's 4x800 relay team, shuttle hurdle relay team also qualified for state.

Sophomore Justin Heinrichs also earned a spot in the 400-meter low hurdles.

Competing in the 4x800 relay Joe Heinrichs, Blake Gjerde, Rodrick Fuller and Tyler Swanson. They have the 18th-best qualifying time.

Competing in the shuttle hurdle relay will be Alec Wycoff, Michael McCauley, Burrell and Justin Heinrichs. Their time of 1:02.09 is 17th best among 2A qualifiers in the event.

Justin Heinrichs qualified in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 57.07 seconds-16th best among qualifiers.

The distance medley team's time of 3:46.51 ranks them 21st among the 24 2A state qualifiers in that event.

The North Union girls track team also earned state qualification in two events.

McKayla Hardman placed second in the 100-meter dash at the 2A district meet in Emmetsburg with her time of 13.57 seconds.

North Union's shuttle hurdle relay team of Jordan Guerdet, Emily Hagebock, Sara Rolling and Allie Ingalls also will make the trip to sate as their fourth-place finish of 1:12.24 earned them a trip to state.

Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven/Ayrshire will have one competitor at state as Marly Bakken qualified in the 1A shot put with a throw of 34 feet, 8 1/2 inches.
