LIVERMORE - The Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire girls' golf team continued to play well as they qualified for the region final a second-place finish at the first-round regional meet on Monday.
While Bishop Garrigan was way ahead of the rest of the field with a 359, the Titans finished with a 418-20 strokes better than third-place Northwood-Kensett's 438.
Newman Catholic placed fourth with 447 followed by West Bend-Mallard with 449, Harris-Lake Park with 470 and North Iowa with 478.
Kelley Harris led the Titans and is an individual region final qualifier with a 98.
Bishop Garrigan had the top three players led by Alexa Capesius with an 81, Rebecca Richter with an 88 and Haley Froehlich with a 91.
For the rest of the Titans, Sara Harris shot a 99, Destiny Akridge a 109 and Alyssa Hoffman a 112.
Also golfing was Cassy Hampson who finished with a 128.
"With great scoring conditions the girls did a very good job on a tough course," said GTRA coach John Fulton. "This was the most difficult course the girls have seen all year but they did a great job.
The Titans will play the second round next Monday, May 20, with the top two teams advancing to state.
