If all goes well and the weather cooperates, the Estherville Municipal outdoor swimming pool should be open around June 10.
City administrator Penny Clayton reported to the Estherville Parks and Recreation Board on Monday that workers are in the process of preparing the pool for the upcoming season. The projected closing date for the pool is Aug. 18, the Sunday before school starts at Estherville Lincoln Central.
In other business, the board heard several updates on Thoreson Park.
The open shelterhouse will be getting a new roof with the labor donated by Dave Spoo. It also will be repainted with volunteer labor. The city is responsible for purchasing materials.
Clayton told the board that the new scoreboard donated by New Fashion Pork is up and running. It was used this past weekend for the ELC Booster club tournament.
The construction of new dugouts on Thoreson ball fields 2 and 3 is progressing. Projected completion is prior to the start of the season.
The funding for the dugouts comes from excess donations received for the Pavillion last year.
The Estherville Parks and Recreation Board's plan to begin updating park signs will begin soon. Plans for this year include new signs for Spurgin Park, Thoreson Park, North Riverside Park and Mickelson Park.
