Estherville Lincoln Central had little trouble with a struggling Storm Lake team that had lost by the 10-run rule four times this season.

The Midgets were no different pounding out 11 runs on nine hits.

Carson Gjerde pitched a 1-hit shut out while striking out four batters and walking none. ELC committed two errors on defense.

Gjerde, who went 3-3 at the plate and scored four runs, helped her own cause with a one-out single in the first. She eventually scored on a passed ball. Emily Kirchner drew a walk and stole second base. Caitlyn Clayton then drew a walk and Kirchner went to third as the ball got past the catcher. She scored on another passed ball.

In the second inning, ELC went to work with two outs as Macy Dahl reached on a Tornado error and scored on a double by Gjerde. She then stole third. Kirchner drew a walk and immediately stole second. Clayton then hit a ball to left field and two runs scored on the error.

ELC scored three more runs in the fourth and the game ended on a bases-clearing double by Joslyn Moore in the fifth inning.

Dahl was 2-4 with two runs and a double. Moore was 2-3 with a double and three RBIs. Clayton was 1-2 with an RBI and a run and Megan Jensen was 1-3 with an RBI. Kirchner was 0-1, but was walked three times and scored three times.

ELC (4-4 overall) travels to Sioux City for games against Sioux City East and Sioux City North.
