SPENCER - Having beaten Spencer 20-1 just four days prior, Estherville Lincoln Central didn't have it as easy on the Tigers' home field Wednesday. But the Midgets still had enough fire power for a 6-1 Lakes Conference victory.

The teams' first meeting came last Saturday at ELC's tournament. In that game, the Midgets put together an 11-run sixth inning.

Wednesday, ELC struclk first again. Liz Brashear led off the second inning with a single and Christa Clayton sent her second home run of the season over the left-field fence.

Spencer got one run right back as Karis Rhode soloed over the same fence to lead off the bottom of the second. But that was all the Tigers would get.

ELC added another run in the fourth inning when Clayton and Megan Jensen both drew two-out walks and Sarah Schacherer came up with an RBI single.

ELC added three in the sixth inning. Emily Kirchner led off with a single and Brashear was hit by a pitch. With one out, Jensen and Schacherer both hit RBI singles. Jensen scored on a passed ball for the final run of the night.

Schacherer was 2-3 with two RBIs while Jensen, Brashear and Clayton each went 1-2. Clayton had two RBIs and Jensen had one. Kirchner was 1-4.

"Their pitcher threw one of the best change-ups we've seen this year and kept us off balance," said ELC coach Megan Anderson. "But the middle of the lineup came through for us tonight and that was nice to see.'

Brashear earned the win as she struck out four batters and walked one while giving up five hits.

ELC (6-5 overall) travels to Spirit Lake on Friday.
