Ocheyedan man arrested on drug charges

On June 9, 2013 at approximately 1:49 a.m., Estherville Police stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, officers were able to smell an odor of marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, Joshua Bosma, age 20, of Ocheyedan, was placed under arrest for the traffic violation.

Upon conducting an inventory of the vehicle, officers located three separate baggies of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana and several items of drug paraphernalia. Bosma was also charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver; a Class D felony, failure to affix a drug tax stamp; a Class D Felony, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia; a simple misdemeanor.

Class D felonies are punishable by up to 5 years in prison and a fine of no more than seven thousand five hundred dollars and no less than $750. Simple misdemeanors are punishable by up to 30 days in jail and a fine of no more than $625 and not less than $65.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
