LEMARS - Estherville Lincoln Central couldn't do much against LeMars and ace pitcher Molly Renken on Wednesday.

Renken struck out 13 of the 15 batters she faced for a perfect game as the Class 4A No. 3 Bulldogs won 11-0 in five innings.

ELC's defense also struggled with four errors in the contest.

Renken helped her own cause in the first inning with two-out grand slam home run down the right field line as the hosts took a 4-0 lead.

The Midgets committed two errors in the second inning and LeMars pushed one more run across the plate. ELC got out of a bases-loaded jam as starter Liz Brashear recorded her first strikeout of the night against MaryKate Eckstaine for the third out.

But after getting Renken to fly out to centerfield for the first out of the third inning, ELC's defense let it down again with an error. The Midgets recorded two outs without giving up a run, but couldn't get the third out as LeMars came up with five hits to plate four runs. ELC's second error of the inning allowed two more runs to score as the Bulldogs led 11-0.

The Midgets' defense did its job by retiring the Bulldog batters in order in the bottom of the fourth inning. But Renken struck out the side in the top of the fifth.

ELC's only two at-bats that weren't strikeouts were easy plays by the Bulldog defense. Rachel Bates popped up to the catcher for the second out in the third inning. Emily Kirchner flew out to second base for the third out in the fourth inning.

LeMars (17-1, 6-0 Lakes) recorded 12 hits on the night. Brashear finished with two strikeouts and no walks in the loss.

ELC (8-6 overall, 5-2 Lakes) travels to Algona today to play Bishop Garrigan.
