WALLINGFORD?- Don't forget the Wallingford Fire and Emergency Medical Services fundraiser from 4-8 p.m., Saturday, June 22 at the Wallingford Fire Station.
The meal will include a ribeye steak sandwich, potato salad, potato chips, baked beans, hot dogs for kids and a beverage. The meal is $8 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. For home delivery for people in the Wallingford Community, please contact a department member for arrangements. Take out is also available.
Raffle items include $500 cash, a 43-inch flat screen TV, Traeger Pellet Grill, Patriotic Print and a side of pork. Tickets are one for $5 or five for $20. You need not be present to win.
Proceeds will support the training of the fire and EMS personnel as well as a new fire station addition and equipment. This support will keep Wallingford Fire and Emergency Medical Services ready to serve the needs of the community and Emmet County.
The Wallingford Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services protects the citizens within High Lake Township, Twelve Mile Lake Township and the City of Wallingford.
The fire department currently has 18 firefighters and eight EMTs/emergency responders.
Wallingford firefighters are trained at the Firefighter One level and some department members have completed the Firefighter Two level.
All firefighters are trained in basic first aid and CPR and hazardous materials at the operations level.
Current equipment includes two engines, one tanker, one grass truck, one rescue/equipment van and one rescue/EMS unit.
The Wallingford Fire Department works closely with the Estherville, Gruver, Armstrong, Ringsted, Terril and Graettinger fire departments.
The Wallingford Fire Department added emergency medical services in 2006. They currently have eight EMT's/Emergency Medical Responders. Wallingford EMS works closely with the Estherville Ambulance Service and EMTs from their service.
Wallingford EMS has three CPR/first aid instructors: Teresa Olson, Monica Christianson and Jarrod Fischer.
