Lenora MacRunnel

Lenora MacRunnel, age 81, of Fort Dodge and formerly of Estherville and Boone, died June 18, 2013, at the Stratford Care and Rehab Center in Stratford. Funeral services are Saturday, June 22, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the Berean Baptist Church, 720 S. Montana Street in Boone. Burial will be in the Boone Memorial Gardens, Boone.

Lenora MacRunnel was born March 1, 1932, in Estherville, the daughter of Sigfred Oscar and Ellen Celia (Christianson) Ringham. At the age of 14, while attending Union Baptist Church in Estherville, she came to trust Christ as her personal Savior during a revival meeting in Spirit Lake. Following her salvation, she was immersed in believer's baptism at the Union Baptist Church in Estherville. Lenora graduated from Estherville High School in 1950. On July 11, 1950, Lenora married Harold Osborn MacRunnel in Jackson, Minn.

Lenora was a homemaker with a quiet and calm demeanor who raised nine children who kept her very busy. She enjoyed reading, especially the Bible, and loved to travel with her husband. Her hobbies were gardening and she wrote inspirational poetry hoping it may lead others to accept Christ as their personal Savior. She also dedicated her time and energy teaching Sunday school and Bible school. As she lived in many different places, she was a member of many congregations with the Berean Baptist Church in Boone her final church. It was her prayer and desire that her nine children, 24 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren all know Christ as their personal Savior. Lenora loved helping people.

Lenora was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers Irwin and Everett, her sister Delores, and infant grandson Timothy MacRunnel. She is survived by six sons; Harold (Susie) of Rolfe, Norman (Chiu Hsiang) of Murrieta, Calif., Dennis of Cedar Rapids, Steven (Peggy) of Ames, Daniel (Mabel) of Fort Dodge, and Darryl (Jennifer) of Radcliffe; three daughters Carmen (Rick) Sorenson of Sparta, Mo, Sherri (Timothy) Anderson of Boone, and Dianne (David) Johnson of Alden; a sister Vera Ratchford of Independence; 24 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone on Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation continues Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
