GRANVILLE - North Union spelt the weekend at the Spalding Catholic tournament.
The Warriors opened up play with a 3-0 win over Remsen St. Mary's on Friday and then lost 2-1 to Gehlen Catholic that same day.
On Saturday, the Warriors lost 14-3 to Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley.
Against Remsen St. Mary's, Sawyer Doocy pitched a complete game, throwing a no-hitter while striking out seven batters and walk seven.
North Union scored its three runs in the sixth, which included an RBI triple by Doocy. Alex Deitering drove in two runs on a two-out error by the rightfielder.
North Union had just four hits. Colin Runksmeier was 2-3 while Doocy and Spencer Ricke each went 1-2.
Gehlen Catholic scored its two runs in the first inning and North Union could only get one run back in the third. The Warriors had runners at third base twice in the fifth inning and once in the sixth, but couldn't get them across the plate.
Cody Runksmeier took the loss. He pitched six innings and gave up two earned runs on three hits with six strikeouts and one walk.
North Union finished with five hits. Colin Runksmeier was 3-3 while Cody Runksmeier and Ricke each went 1-3.
On Saturday, BHRV pounded out 13 hits against three Warrior pitchers. Colin Runksmeier pitched 2 3/ and gave up seven earned runs on six hits with two strikeouts and three walks. Corey Vaske pitched 1 1/3 innings and gave up four runs (three earned) on three hits with two strikeouts and two walks. Alex Deitering pitched one inning and gave up three earned runs on four hits with one strikeout and no walks.
BHRV's Tyler Dolieslager limited North Union to three hits. Park Oleson was 1-2 while Cody Runksmeier and Doocy were 1-3. Doocy and Oleson each had an RBI.
North Union (12-7 overall) was at Harris-Lake Park for a doubleheader on Monday. The Warriors host Humboldt this evening.
