LAKE PARK - North Union swept Harris-Lake Park in a Cornbelt Conference doubleheader on Monday.
The Warriors won the first game 8-3. Corey Vaske was the winning pitcher. He went four innings and gave up three earned runs on one hit with three strikeouts and two walks. Sawyer Doocy pitched two innings and gave up no hits while striking out four and walking three. Brandon Kollasch pitched on inning and gave up no hits with one strikeout.
North Union had six hits on the night with three of them coming in the fifth inning as the Warriors scored six runs.
Cody Runksmeier was 2-4 with two RBIs, Spencer Ricke was 2-3 with two RBIs; Alex Deitering was 1-4 with two RBIs and Jake Govern was 1-3.
Garrett Johnson and Kollasch each had an RBI.
Johnson pitched a shutout in the second game as North Union won 3-0. Johnson gave up five hits while striking out 11 batters and walking two.
H-LP's Colin Brons also went the distance as he gave up three earned runs on eight hits with six strikeouts and four walks in the loss.
North Union scored the first run in the third inning. Doocy hit a two-out single and scored on a double by Ricke.
The Warriors added two insurance runs in the fifth. Cody Runksmeieir drew a leadoff walk. Runners were at second and third after a double by Doocy. Ricke was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Deitering then came up with a two-out single that brought two runs home.
At the plate, Deitering was 2-3 with two RBIs; Doocy was 2-4; Ricke was 1-2 with an RBI; Cody Runksmeier was 1-2; Jake Adams was 1-3 and Colin Runksmeier was 1-4.
North Union (14-7 overall) was home against Humboldt on Tuesday. The Warriors host Algona on Thursday.
