Titans’ 13 hits not enough against Chargers

LAURENS- Thirteen hits wasn't enough for Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire in their Class 1A Region 2 first-round game on Monday.

Laurens-Marathon broke a 6-6 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning and held on for an 8-6 victory.

The Chargers had scored four runs in the bottom of the second with the Titans putting up five runs in the top of the third inning. The Chargers retook the lead with two runs in the fourth with the Titans tying the game with a run in the fifth.

Brooke Hoffman and Morgan McGrauth led the Titans as each went 3-4 while Daisy Jordan and Cassy Hampson each went 2-4 and Alyssa Hoffman, Grace Skattebo and Sara Harris each went 1-4.

Alyssa Hoffman pitched six innings and gave up five runs (four earned) on eight hits with five strikeouts and four walks. Brooke Hoffman took the loss. She pitched one inning and gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits with two strikeouts and two walks.

Laurens-Marathon's Briley Sullivan earned the win as she gave up six runs (three earned) with six strikeouts and two walks.

GTRA ends the season with a 7-21 record.
