ORANGE CITY - Estherville Lincoln Central fell to MOC-Floyd Valley 7-6 in the Midgets' final game of the regular season on Tuesday.
The Midgets fell behind 5-1 after the Dutch scored five runs in the second inning, but ELC tied the game with four runs in the fifth.
However, MOC-Floyd Valley outscored ELC 2-1 in the sixth inning, which proved to be the difference in the game.
Matt Burrell pitched five innings and gave up four runs (two earned) on four hits with three strikeouts.
Tucker Milburn took the loss as pitched two innings and gave up two earned runs with six strikeouts, two walks and a hit batter.
At the plate, Adam Reiter was 4-4 with a double; Derek Nieland was 2-4 with a double; Burrell was 1-3 with two RBIs; Milburn was 1-4 with an RBI; Tim grieving was 1-2; Corey Reeves was 1-3 and Evan Hansen was 1-4.
ELC (12-14) opens the postseason on Saturday in a 5 p.m. game against Sioux Central at Spirit Lake. The winner will play North Union at 5 p.m., Tuesday, July 16 in Spirit Lake.
The ELC Junior Varsity ended its season with a 4-2 victory over MOC-Floyd Valley.
