Theresa Anderson went to be with Jesus, our Savior, on July 14, 2013, at Edgewood Vista Assisted Living in Spearfish, SD.
Visitation will be noon until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. Rosary services will begin at 7 p.m.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2013, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Sturgis with Father Arnold Kari officiating. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery.
Theresa was born on May 16, 1930, to Simon and Caroline Ripperger in Colton, S.D. She moved to Junius when she was three and completed her education, graduating from Madison High School in 1948. During high school, she participated in cheerleading, debate, and softball. After graduation, she married Leo Krenn, her childhood sweetheart and they started their lives together in Madison. In 1955, she and Leo moved to Estherville where Leo was transferred with John Morrell and Co. Theresa was a stay at home mother, having a sewing business which developed into an upholstery business for several years. She and Leo resided in Estherville until Leo's retirement in 1982. At that time, they moved to Sturgis and Leo passed away in 1993. Five years later, Theresa married Don Anderson. She and Don and spent many winters in Mesa, AZ, where she made several close friends. Every year in August, Theresa hosted several guests in her home during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. She enjoyed playing many games with her guests, and one of her favorites was bean bag toss. She also enjoyed hunting and fishing and was very successful in both endeavors.
During her life, Theresa was involved with Beta Sigma Phi, Meals on Wheels, and St. Patrick's Circle of St. Francis of Assisi Church. In 2009, she moved to Edgewood Vista where she resided until she passed away.
Theresa is survived by three sons, Dan Krenn (Rosita), San Diego, CA, Lonnie Krenn, (Lacy) Alvavedo, TX, and Mark Krenn (Marlene), Sturgis, SD; two daughters, Kathy Henderson, Phoenix, AZ, and Denise Born (Kim), Deadwood, SD. Also surviving Theresa are her 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; step children, Ron (Kao) Anderson, Piedmont, Tom (Cathie) Anderson, Sturgis, and Marge (Bryan) Brunmaier, Piedmont; seven step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Caroline; spouses, Leo and Don; her sister, Dorothy; her brothers, Lionel, Gerald, and Harold; her son, Michael; and one step-grandson, Casey.
A memorial has been established to the Hospice of the Northern Hills.
