ALGONA - The Estherville Lincoln Central netters showed improvement in their second match of the season, but came up short against Bishop Garrigan 3-1.
The Bears took the first two games 25-12, 25-17 before ELC won the third 27-5. Garrigan then took the fourth and deciding game 25-20.
"The first game we were a little timid and flat-footed," said ELC coach Carly Marx. The second and third games will came alive. "We're still building confidence and a lot of it is still new to the players.
"once we clean up some things, I think they'll be pretty awesome."
Megan Jensen led the ELC attack with seven kills. Alicia Jorgenson, Lauren Moeller and Caitlyn Clayton each had two kills.
Joslyn Moore had 12 set assists and two ace serves.
Defensively, Moeller finished with five blocks, Jordan Phillips had 28 digs, Jorgenson had 21 digs and Jensen had 16 digs.
ELC (0-2 overall) will play North Union on Thursday, Sept. 12 in Armstrong.
