Spirit Lake boys place second, girls take fourth at Spencer

SPENCER - The Spirit Lake Boys Cross Country Team finished second at the Spencer Invitational on Thursday.

Tanner Goetsch paced the Indians as he placed second in 16 minutes, 31 seconds. Ryan Maris placed 16th in 18:15, Alec Harrington placed 25th in 18:44, Kyle Anderson placed 26th in 18:49 and Josh Waite placed 28th in 19 minutes. Also, Kyle Kueper placed 38th in 19:41 and Matt Schmitz placed 47th in 20:33.

Algona won with 42 points while Spirit Lake had 97, Western Christian 118, Spencer 124 and ELC with 206.

Dondi Schmidt finished fourth to lead the girls team to a fourth-place finish. She finished in 16:26. Lucy O'Hagan placed 12th in 17:36, Ashley Brooks placed 21st in 17:55, Hakhett Zeledon placed 24th in 18 minutes and Rebekah Olson placed 26th in 18:06. Also Ally Whiting placed 42nd in 19:11 and Meghan Wickham placed 44th in 19:14.

Western Christian won with 45 points followed by Spencer with 49, Algona with 53, Spirit Lake with 187 and ELC with1 41.
