CHARLES?CITY - On Saturday the Algona Girls Swim Team placed fifth at the Charles City Invitational with 252 points.

"It was a good team effort as everyone scored points in every event," said Algona coach Jim Fisher. "The 400 free relay team set a new team, There were 19 times that beat the seed time and seven of those were personal best times. This is out of 31 timed events. The 252 points is the most we have scored in that meet."

" The team has worked hard, with everyone working together, helping each other in practice to improve," said coach Fisher. "There were several girls swimming an event for the first or second time and they are learning how they need to swim it. Having all events score made it a fun time."

"We made the medal stand three times which was good for us," said Fisher. "Thirteen events beat their seed time and five of those were personal bests. Our power points went up meaning our times continue to come down."
