GARNER - If it wasn't for a 75-yard touchdown run by Garner-Hayfield/Ventura's Braden Meints, Spirit Lake would've held the Cardinals to negative yardage.

Still the Indians (4-0) were dominant on both sides of the ball in a 29-7 victory on Friday.

GHV (3-1) entered Friday's game averaging 320 yards on the ground. They were held to just 66 rushing yards total.

Meanwhile, Spirit Lake did most of its damage through the air. Alec Henrickson went 15-of-29 passing for 254 yards and two touchdowns. The Indians had 87 yards on the ground with Henrickson rushing for one from 15 yards out and Josh Hofstra scoring on a 1-yard run.

In the receiving corps, Mike Meschede snagged four passes for 97 yards including a 27 yards touchdown. Austin Folsom had four catches for 61 yards including a 12-yard touchdown. Caleb Jennings also caught four passes for 67 yards while Trevor Jensen had two catches for 31 yards.

Hofstra finished with 33 yards on 17 carries and Kenten Murray had 26 yards on 11 carries.

Meschede also kicked a 21-yard field goal.

Defensively, Jacob Jenness finished with 11 tackles including seven for a loss with two of those being sacks. Ben Spaeth also had a pair of sack and four of his six tackles were for a loss. Dallas Poock also had six tackles.

Pat Woizeschke and Paul Woizeschke each recorded an interception. Hofstra, Cory Meschede and Ben Spaeth recovered fumbles.
