SL goes 4-1 at FC

FOREST CITY - Spirit lake had a good day at the Forest City Tournament, posting a 4-1 record.

The Indians defeated North Union, Clarion-Goldfield and Boon 2-1 and Spencer 2-0 while losing 2-0 to Forest City.

Spirit Lake avenged an earlier loss to north Union with a 21-17, 19-21, 15-13 victory. Bailey Loveall finished with nine kills while Joie Veldman had five. Kaela Delperdang had 16 set assists while Kelsey Delperdang had six ace serves. Bailee Newman finished with 13 digs.

The Indians defeated Clarion-Goldfield 21-19, 14-21, 15-10. Loveall again led the attack with 15 kills along with four blocks and four ace serves. Carly Ites had five kills and Veldman had four. Kaela Delperdang had 18 set assists while Newman had 11 digs.

Forest City won 21-11, 21-8 over Spirit Lake. Veldman led the attack with five kills. Kaela Delperdang and Ashland each had five assists. Macy Smith had three blocks and Newman had six digs.

Loveall finished with 11 kills and seven blocks in the 25-23, 14-21, 16-14 win over Boone. Veldman contributed six kills and six ace serves. Kaela Delperdang had 18 set assists and Newman had 10 digs. Smith also had four blocks.

The Indians defeated Spencer 21-15, 21-11. Loveall finished with six kills and three blocks. Veldman had four kills. Kaela Delperdang had nine set assists and Newman had six digs.

Spirit Lake (10-7) takes on Class 2A No. 2 Western Christian on Tuesday. The Indians are at West Bend-Mallard next Monday and host Cherokee on Tuesday.
