ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for Wesley R. Eide, 88, of Estherville will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Chris Lang officiating. Interment will be held at East Side Cemetery in Estherville with military rites by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91.

He died Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at his home in Estherville.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Henry-Olson Funeral Home.

Wesley Romaine Eide, the son of Thomas and Beatrice (Froland) Eide, was born Dec. 12, 1924, in Story City.

He received his education in the Estherville schools, graduating from Estherville High School in 1942. He served in the United Navy from 1942-1945, serving in World War Two.

On April 24, 1948, Wes was united in marriage to Mavis Hanson in Jackson, Minn. He was employed at Tobin's Packing Plant from 1946-1955. Then from 1956-1983 Wes was employed at John Morrell's. For hobbies, he enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, flying, meeting with friends for coffee and especially spending time with his family.

Wes was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the VFW Post #3388.

Left to cherish Wes's memory is his wife, Mavis; children, Gloria (Larry) Nath and Gary (Virginia) Eide, all of Estherville, Carolyn (Steve) Brill of Royalton, Minn., Jennifer (Bill) Cother of Milford and Gail Eide of Willmar, Minn; 20 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; siblings, Lyle Eide of St. Paul, Minn., Cecil (Maerose) Eide of Estherville, Dale (Diane) Eide of Phoenix, Ariz. and Tom Eide of St. Paul, Minn.

Preceding Wes in death were his parents; great-granddaughter, Khloe Nath; sister, Beverly Merrill and brothers, Jack Eide and Floyd Eide. Online condolences may be sent to
