ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for Leland L. Kolpin, 89, of Estherville will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Estherville with Pastor Thomas Marth officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Henry-Olson Funeral Home in Estherville. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery in Estherville with military rites by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91 of Estherville.
He died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
Leland Leslie Kolpin, the son of Leo and Linda (Stief) Kolpin, was born Nov. 15, 1923, in Aurelia.

He received his education in the Aurelia schools, graduating from Aurelia High School in 1941. Leland served in the United States Army during World War II.
On Dec. 3, 1944, he was united in marriage to Opal Bernadine "Bernie" Banning in Spirit Lake. Leland worked for Golden Sun Feeds Company for 42 years, retiring in 1985. Leland enjoyed yard work, watching all sports and especially spending time with his family.
He was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he served as a deacon, Aquascilla Club and was the "master painter" for the church.
Left to cherish Leland's memory is his wife, Bernie Kolpin; two daughters, Linda (Larry) Niles of Estherville and Molly (Richard) Gommels of Rochester, Minn.; three granddaughters, Michelle, Sarah and Lesley; three great-grandchildren, Kyle, Paige and Kayla; and siblings, Bill (Donna) Kolpin of Clifton, Colo. and Fern Lair of Sioux Falls, S.D.
Preceding Leland in death are his parents; two brothers, Richard and Marvin; and two sisters, Lola Van Westin and Arlene Newton.
